The Hotel Il Villino, Rome, is in one of the most enviable locations in Rome. Situated next to Trastevere train and bus station, guests have a direct train link to Fiumicino Airport (FCO) - the main airport of Rome. Don't forget that the hotel also provide an airport shuttle service from both of Rome's airports if you prefer, so getting to and from Hotel il Villino couldn't be easier.
Once you have arrived you will also understand what a great area the hotel is in. Situated at the foot of the Gianicolo hills, the hotel is sandwiched between two of the best areas of Rome - Monteverde and Trastevere - both of which are easily reachable in a few minutes using the tram that stops just outside the hotel. Monteverde is a residential area that is naturally quite green, peaceful and tranquil, but at the same time, enjoys many restaurants, bars and shops. Monteverde is also the home of a huge and beautiful park called Villa Pamphili - perfect for a stroll or a picnic.
Trastevere on the other hand is much more bustling with narrow cobbled streets, picturesque buildings, a fantastic and stunning church and teeming with restaurants, bars and unusual shops. Trastevere is famous because of it's great atmosphere and characteristic charm and the place just seems to burst with life. In the summer months the adjacent banks of the River Tiber also teem with activity as the authorities errect riverside restaurants, bars, and fairground stalls for people to stroll through and sample.
If however you remain on the tram, you will end up in the centre of historic Rome (only around 10-15 minutes from the Hotel) at Largo Argentina (where Julius Caesar was murdered), and from there you can walk to Piazza Venezia, the Imperial Roman Forum and the Capitoline Hill. There are also then great bus links to the Vatican area. |
